Recently, Andy and Kristie King spent some time in St. Louis at the Midwest Coaches Time Out conference. The conference is a 3 day/2 night getaway for both the coach and their spouse that focuses on equipping coaches to be positive role-models and mentors for young people, instilling positive core values, and ultimately affecting and inspiring their lives for Jesus Christ. Families are also encouraged in how to see the coach’s job as a family ministry.

Coaches Time Out works hard to bring in relevant, nationally known speakers to teach about topics from marriage to how to deal with parents of players to finances. Examples include: Walt Wiley, Jay and Laura Laffoon, Don Christensen, and Harvey Carey.

Coach Chris Hawkins and his bride Karrin came to the conference this year, and this is what they had to say:

We were blown away by the conference!  It will surely strengthen our marriage, improve my coaching, and help our family understand more as to how coaching is a ministry in itself.  We plan to make this weekend a mandatory event as long as it is in existence.

We are looking forward to sending as many coaching couple as possible to this weekend in 2011. Check back to this website and watch your inbox for information regarding next year’s conference!
