Dear Friends of Bloomington-Normal Area FCA,
I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead the North Central Illinois team as the new Area Director!
A little background; I have been married to my beautiful wife Kelly for 33 amazing years. I have been blessed with two wonderful sons; Jimmy (30) and Michael, who went to be with our Lord and Savior in 2014 at the age of 22 – killed by a drunk driver.
I have lived in this area my entire life – a graduate of Normal Community High School and Illinois State University. I have been a baseball coach at various levels for many years; assistant coach for 3 years at University High School, assistant coach at Normal West for four years, and head coach at U-High from 2011-2014. I also served as an assistant coach at Heartland Community College for two years, and still lead a chapel for the baseball team.
I spent most of my professional life in the banking industry, including a variety of leadership positions. The last 19 years have been spent with State Farm as a Bank Manager.
I believe our area FCA ministry is a sleeping giant! I have been involved with FCA for many years, and believe with all my heart this is where God wants me at this time in my life.
When my son Michael was a junior at Normal West I led an optional book study. As we discussed "legacy" I asked each player to write their own obituary. Michael included "was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and helped others look to follow God."
That is the FCA mission – impact the world for Jesus Christ through athletes and coaches – and where I believe I am supposed to be.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you, and ask for your support – time, talent, treasure and prayers – as we work together to awake the sleeping giant!
